Here, at departures.co.uk, we present you with a quick solution helping you to find suitable flight connections to both nearby and faraway places all over the world. Use our flight search engine to find the cheapest or the most convenient flight offer to Tahiti!
Tahiti is the biggest and most populated island in the Windward group of French Polynesia in Pacific Ocean. It came into existence as a result of volcano activity. The best time to visit Tahiti, is between April to November to avoid wet season with January being the wettest month. The average temperature ranges from 21 to 31 degrees, and the heat never makes you feel uncomfortable because of Trade Winds. The winter season doesn’t really exist here, as the lowest temperature hardly ever drops below 16 degrees.
It’s an ideal place for all those who wish to take a rest and forget about the hubbub and noise of the city life and spend some time close to nature. Tahiti gives you a wealth of opportunities to spend your time in an active or more passive – but undoubtedly unforgettable way.
Must-see attractions in Tahiti:
· Paul Gaugain musem – this well-known French painter moved to Tahiti and lived here until his death. In the musem, you can see some of his paintings as well as memorabilia of this great artist.
· Le Marche – a market place in the centre of Papeete, the biggest town in Tahiti, and the capital of the whole French Polynesia. A visit to the market will give you an opportunity to see the bustling life of the island, and try some really fancy and exotic fruit and vegetables.
· Venus Point Lighthouse – a place where the famous explorer, captain James Cook observed the planet Venus – and that’s how the lighthouse got its name. Nearby, there is also a stunning black-sand beach.
· Overwater Bungalows – there are hundreds of them, and they all contribute to the unique landscape and atmosphere of the place. Ideally, when visiting Tahiti, you should spend a few days in such a bungalow, instead of choosing regular holiday resorts and hotels. These little houses often have glass floor, making you feel as if you were walking on water.
Faa’a International Airport is situated about 5 kilometres southwest from the town centre of Papeete. It is the only airport in the whole of French Polynesia that serves international flights. The airport has 5 terminals, with terminal 2 being the busiest one. There are also cafes, shops and restaurants.
