Palau (sometimes spelled Belau –its indigenous name ) is a true miracle of nature. There’s no use searching for a second place like this. Palau attracts visitors with its pleasantly warm climate – the average temperature here is around 28 degrees. It’s best to visit the place between October and July, in order to avoid the period of the most abundant rainfalls. The country provides its visitors with dozens of opportunities to spend their time close to nature in an active, or more passive way. The enthusiasts of water sports will be delighted to try windsurfing, water skiing, scuba- diving or snorkeling. Scuba-diving can be especially exciting, as divers get to see not only the magnificent marine environment, but also World War II wrecks. In 2001 the first ‘shark sanctuary’ was founded in Koror, Palau. Earlier the country authorities banned the popular practice of shark fishing on its area. This sanctuary protects 600,000 square metres of ocean. Saltwater crocodiles are another example of animal species specific to this area.

The Republic of Palau has three airports: Angaur Airstrip, Peleliu Airfield, and the biggest airport In the country – Roman Tmetuchl International Airport (also known as Airai Airport) The airport is located only 6 kilometres from the capital city of Koror, and 25 kilometres from Melekeok.
